This photo is so refreshing and relaxing, and reminds me of my childhood in a way that I have only felt, on rare occasion, when going back to this lake. Thank you [to the photographer] for posting this, it is so beautiful. I almost feel as if I am there and can sense the stillness of the water. It is wonderful, really. I feel as if the sun will soon burn off the early morning fog. I also notice, that this photo was uploaded (maybe even taken) on the 28th of June 2007 which is my daughter, Julia's, first birthday. The lake shown here is in close proximity to where I went to high school, and is just a short walk across the street actually. When I see this, I remember those feelings of adolescence and the school day about to start. Over my time growing up in that town, we went to this lake on many occasions and I must say those memories are quite fond in my mind. It is so nice to reconnect with that part of my childhood, even if for a brief moment. Now having gown up, moved on, and moved away myself, it is nice to know that even though the landscape of our own lives may change, the landscape of this lake (at least in a rudimentary geographic sense) has remained the same.

We're Number 1!!!

I've read that we (Chicagoland) have the highest gas prices in the country. Around Oak Park, its something like 3.70, but in the city in some places its over $4. Maybe, high gas prices will finally convince America of the need for better public transit. One can always hope. I'm grateful that my commute to work only involves a 4 mile drive. Aside from work, we're mostly just driving around town, so we rarely travel more than 3 miles for any of our errands. Hooray for dense urban environments!
