Hot, hot, hot (and fat?)
Well, its been another two months since our last post. We've got a really good excuse, but we can't tell you about it, its a secret for now. What we can talk about is the weather. Its been something like 1000 degrees for the past week or so in Oak Park. We've pretty much been inside the house cranking the AC. We just got a new central AC unit installed last month which is super high efficiency, but I'm still afraid to find out what our electric bill is going to be. Its hard to imagine that in six months its going to be about 100 degrees cooler than it is now. Crazy midwestern temperature fluctuation.
By the way, did anyone hear about the Oak Park - Lane Bryant fiasco? I found the whole thing somewhat amusing. To summarize, there's a new retail building going up in downtown. The developer wanted Lane Bryant as a tennant, and the Village vetoed it. It got spun as "Oak Park hates fat people" story. I think its actually more a class issue, as the rest of the building will have a high-end fitness center, a trendy bar, and luxury condos, rather than a size issue. Not being in the target demographics of Lane Bryant, I'd prefer something like Crate and Barrel in that building (its right next to Chipotle), but I think any retail will be a big improvement over the parking lot that was there previously.
