Movin' on Up
Its been a hectic few days here in Oak Park. Ever since I got here I've been doing all the mudane but necessary things involved in relocating to another state. Kelly's dad flew out here for a few days to help us get settled in. He seemed to approve of the locale. We weren't sure when the movers were going to show up, but they ended up arriving on July 1st. The move went more or less without too many headaches, so far. We're in the process of unpacking all the boxes and trying to find a place to put everything.
I've got some photos I took on the drive into Chicago which I'll post as soon as I can find the camera-computer cable.

I envy you! Larry and I rented our first apartment in 1977 after we took a month long trip (more?) across country, down the west coast to LA and back up to the Bay Area. We rented a two bedroom, very California style apartment and Larry was the assistant manager. That way he could continue his artistic lifestyle while I figured out how to make money (thus an IT career was born serendipitously). We had traveled across county in an old, green Dodge Dart with a green wooden box on top that Larry and his father had designed, built and rigged on top along with a couple of suitcases in the trunk. On our first morning in the totally empty, carpeted apartment, I went for a run and came home to a glorious breakfast spread out on our very own table: a Coleman cooler with a towel draped over it! Larry had made us each a half cantaloupe with cottage cheese (one of our favorite foods)! We still have that photo on a slide somewhere but I can you, the light shining in through the window across our makeshift table brought order to something that seemed a bit haphazard. It was glorious! May you have much joy in your new home!
Aside from three straight backed chairs we brought, we have no sit-down furniture of which to speak. Yesterday, I cooked a meal in the new microwave which was situated on the floor of the dining room (the stove wasn't hooked up properly yet). Tonight, I set the table for dinner for two with two plates, two drink glasses, & two sets of plastic utensils ... on my desk in the living room! It was great, and I can relate to how glorious TWM must have felt back in '77. -Kelly
